Yes, the first MINI was introduced in Great Britain in August, 1959. That’s 60 years ago! The original MINI came in two versions: Morris Mini-Minor and Austin Seven, with minimal differences between the two. The price tag was £497 of which £147 was the British “purchase tax”.
From the very beginning, MINI was a lively, fun to drive vehicle. Fuel efficient, it was a welcome sight to the drivers still brutalized by the fuel shortages created by the 1957 Suez Canal crisis.
Today, 60 years later, Mini remains a sporty, fun car to drive. At Russ’s Wrench we salute the MINI and wish it another 60 years, though likely in the electric version (more about that in another post).
We have been serving MINI owners since our inception, over 30 years ago, and we are starting preparations to help MINI celebrate its 100th birthday in 2059.
In the meantime, we continue to service and repair all models of Mini Cooper – so bring your MINI to us, and experience our first-class customer service as well as the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
