MINI COOPER – 60 YEARS OLD!

Yes, the first MINI was introduced in Great Britain in August, 1959. That’s 60 years ago! The original MINI came in two versions: Morris Mini-Minor and Austin Seven, with minimal differences between the two. The price tag was £497 of which £147 was the British “purchase tax”. From the very beginning, MINI was a lively, fun to drive vehicle. Fuel efficient, it was a welcome sight to the drivers still brutalized by the fuel shortages created by the 1957 Suez Canal crisis. Today, 60 years later, Mini remains a sporty, fun car to drive.
