We are going to participate in the Salida Town & Country Festival on August 22 from 10-4. It’s the 15th annual parade and festival. There’s 35 cars on display – oldies but beauties, food, games, rides, live music, etc.
About the Event
The Salida Civic Association, formed in 2000, is a non-profit organization that was originally created to bring family oriented entertainment to the area. The SCA, run by an all volunteer board and members, meets every 2nd Tuesday of each month. All residents of Salida are encouraged to attend and help to continue the work that the SCA has accomplished.
Over the years, The SCA’s main event has always been the Salida Town & Country Parade & Festival. The Festival has been held every year on the fourth Saturday of August. The SCA also has been able to raise funds through several successful fund raisers such as spaghetti feeds, yard sales and golf tournaments. With the funds raised, the SCA has sent local children to Camp Taylor and participated, in co-ordination with the local Salida Fire Department and Sheriff Departments, in a Holiday Gift give-away. With the help of local businesses, gifts and donations are collected and volunteers from the SCA ride with the Salida Fire Department and pass out gifts to local families in need. The SCA has been instrumental in helping local kids enjoy their holidays.
It is the Salida Civic Associations goal to raise enough money each year to continue it’s work helping Salida families and making the Salida Town & Country Parade & Festival an even bigger success. With the help of local businesses and support from the community we can make it happen!
